St. Jacobs is known as “Ontario’s Favourite Rural Destination” and is a small town located just north of Waterloo, in Southwest Ontario. This rustic village is famous for its Mennonite community which boasts great retail opportunities, as well as a rich culture to explore.
St Jacobs is best known for having Ontario’s largest Year-Round Farmer’s Market which is open every Thursday and Saturday from 7:00 am – 3:30 pm. The Market features a large selection of fresh Ontario produce, Mennonite-made foods, crafts and art items, an amazing flea market, and a food court located in a barn! There is also the famous St. Jacobs Outlet Mall for more great bargains, located across from the Farmer’s Market. Make sure to bring your appetite, as you are sure to want to taste all the delicacies offered! As well, St. Jacobs is a great place to hunt for some great antique bargains and finds. With over 100 antique vendors, you’re sure to find a treasure you will love.
Aside from all the delectable foods at the Farmer’s Market, there are additional restaurants which all stay consistent to the quaintness of St. Jacobs. With places like the Jacobs Grill, Stone Crock, and At The Crossroads where locals frequent for a scrumptious Mennonite-cooked buffet meal, you don’t want to miss these delicious opportunities. Be sure to check out the Farm Pantry for specialty food and drink, as well as Stone Crock Meat and Cheeses and Bakery.
When visiting St. Jacobs, the self-guided Mennonite Heritage Tour is a must. The intriguing culture of the Old Order is both interesting and inspiring.
